Family Camp Out
The end of summer is observed with a Family Camp-Out on the lawn of the Clubhouse in August. At least one parent—who must be a Highland Lake—is required to stay with the “family tent” throughout the night! Parents are responsible for both tents and children! The actual dates are announced in the Newsette (and on the website) in early August. Some things to consider before showing up are:
1. Call and reserve space on the Club lawn. There is only enough room for 30 tents. (Make sure to bring a tarp along with your tent to avoid moisture.)
2. Each camper will need a sleeping bag, pillow, flashlight, change of clothes, bug spray, and bathroom accessories.
3. Parents should have a first aid kit, a good camping story, snacks, a cooler labeled with your tent name (to be kept in the Clubhouse) for perishable goods.
The general timetable for the evening includes:
1. 6pm-8pm – Set up at Clubhouse and Beach 2
2. 8pm-9pm – Getting to know you!
3. 9pm-10pm – S’mores, Songs & Stories on Beach 2, Campfire
4. 11pm – “Lights out!”
5. 8am-9am – Clean up and “take down”
