Roads Committee
Chairperson: Tom Mulcahy, 973-764-5561
There are nearly 32 miles of private roadway within our Highland Lakes community, all of which are owned by the Club. The Club is responsible for the snow plowing, maintenance, and repair of these roads.
While privately owned, all of these roads fall under Title 39 of New Jersey’s motor vehicle laws. Enforcement of Title 39 is the responsibility of the Vernon Police Department.
The Roads committee evaluates and prioritizes road maintenance needs annually and makes recommendations—based on need and cost—to the Voting Board about which roads should be upgraded in the next cycle. Additionally, the Roads committee is working with the Voting Board on the implementation of a pilot program involving the installation of speed humps at certain locations (installation is planned for the spring of 2012).
