Credits for Summer Garbage Pickup
Members in good standing who are customers of Blue Diamond or Waste Management are entitled to credits for the ten weeks of garbage services provided by the Club. These companies bill quarterly, and since each quarter is comprised of 13 weeks, the Club’s ten weeks represent 77 percent of each quarter.
Blue Diamond invoices $99.00 per quarter for garbage and recycling services. For the Club’s ten weeks, you will be receiving a credit of $67.50 against the garbage portion of your bill, leaving a balance of $31.50 for three months of recycling and three weeks garbage in September. Waste Management customers have varying quarterly billing rates, depending upon whether recycling is provided and other factors. Therefore, there is no universal credit that will be provided, and the amount of the credit will vary considerably. A representative Waste Management quarterly invoice of $96.55 is composed of the following three items: curbside recycling – $12.00, curbside collection – $71.55, fuel/environmental charge – $13.00.
Regrettably, in the past week Waste Management issued invoices to Club members for the July – September period without the appropriate credit. Based on discussions with Waste Management on June 19, customers will be receiving a letter shortly regarding the credit to be issued, and a revised invoice on or about July 5th. In the interim, DO NOT PAY your most recent invoice for the July-September period IF you have paid your Club dues. Wait until you receive the adjusted invoice.
