Guest Speaker at June 14 Ecology Committee
Bob Reffelt, chair of the Ecology Committee, encourages all interested HLCC members to attend the committee’s meeting Thursday June 14th. “We are delighted to have a guest speaker, Sandra Levigne, from Allied Biological who will give a presentation about floating islands (a novel approach for removing nutrients from lakes thereby reducing the need for chemical treatments) and rain gardens (an attractive and effective approach for controlling storm water runoff.)”
Time permitting the committee will also discuss the creation of walking trails, the recent fish kill, the soon-to-be-erected signs warning of aquatic hitchhikers and Lake Wawayanda’s efforts to mechanically harvest water chestnuts. The Fishing Committee meeting will begin at 8PM immediately following the Ecology Meeting. Both meetings take place in the Lake Room of the clubhouse.
