Beach 1 and Lake 1 open Tuesday, July 17
Beach 1 will open at 9:30 am on Tuesday, and swim lessons will take place at normal times.
Beach 1 and Lake 1 were closed on Friday as a precaution after Allied Biological determined that the copper sulfate it applied Friday morning was not dissolving normally. Allied’s inspection Monday morning determined that the copper sulfate in Lake 1 has now dissolved.
Our investigation as to what delayed the dissolution of the copper sulfate remains active, and details will be provided when available. Water samples were obtained by Princeton Hydro on July 16 and water chemistry is being analysed. Samples are also being evaluated by Allied Biological.
The copper sulfate treatment that began on Friday in the Main Lake was completed by Allied Biological on Monday without incident.
