Donate Gently Used Goods – Friday July 13
It only happens once a year and now is the time. The Community Yard Sale is this weekend. Now is your opportunity to gain some space in the basement, attic, closets, on shelves or wherever else you stash the things that you can’t bring yourself to discard because they are perfectly good even though you don’t use them anymore. Lighten your load. Give them to us.
Donations will be accepted between 8 am and 5 pm this Friday, July 13 at the HL Clubhouse. The committee will accept any of the following items provided they are in good condition: Small appliances; bric-a-brac; household items (dishes, glasses, mugs); lamps; tools; holiday items and decorations; linens (comforters, sheets, tablecloths, placemats, napkins, etc.); books; DVDs; CDs; stationery; electronic games; small electronics; toys, puzzles, games; sports equipment; bikes; helmets; miscellaneous household items including small furniture; jewelry; handbags; totes; backpacks; umbrellas; fabrics; notions; wool; craft and art materials; boats; garden items; picture frames; beach toys; Highland Lakes memorabilia; etc. If you have larger items (boats, large furniture and large appliances) you would like to donate please contact Grace Lewin at 764-4535.
This year we are not accepting: clothing; computers; televisions; car seats; cribs; items that have been recalled by the manufacturer; luggage; stuffed animals; exercise equipment or VHS tapes.
Come Saturday, July 14 at 8:30 am – the doors of the Clubhouse will be open and all items will be priced to sell. Come early – items go quickly. All money raised will go to the Goodwill Fund which is dedicated to lightening the financial load of families in need who have suffered a severe catastrophic family event that has seriously impaired their ability to pay their annual Club dues and assessments. Each year funds raised through community-organized activities and personal donations from Club members are anonymously awarded to eligible families. Though we can not eliminate their personal hardships, we seek to ease their financial burdens a bit. Your generosity at events such as this helps us to do just that. Thank you!
