Dump Hazardous Waste – Free at SCMUA – Nov. 3
The Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority (SCMUA) conducts two household hazardous waste events annually, usually in the spring and fall. On Saturday, November 3 between 7:00 am and 2:00 pm this program is available to Sussex County residents, local school districts, municipalities and county agencies.
SCMUA conducts these special events in an effort to remove pollutants and toxins from the waste stream that would otherwise find their way into landfill. You may bring up to 100 pounds of dry household hazardous waste materials and/or 10 gallons of liquid waste free-of-charge on November 3.
SCMUA is located at 34 South, Route 94, Lafayette, NJ. (Route 94 South, approx. 1 mile past the Sussex Technical School on right)
Household hazardous waste includes such things as:
- Lead based/oil based paints, varnish, or stains
- Old gasoline
- Pesticides
- Brake and oil tank fluid
- Solvents
- and much more!
