Thanks to Retiring Board Members – Welcome New Trustees
October marks the beginning of a new fiscal year for the Club and with this we say good-bye to trustees who have served their community well and welcome new board members who are elected by the general membership at our annual meeting in August. It is with gratitude that we bid a fond farewell to Pat Wootton who served two terms (that’s six years in total) on the board, and to Jim Schriner and Bill Laccetti, each of whom served as trustees for three years (one term).
Joining our ranks is Randy Rodger who will serve as the trustee for Section 9 and Ed Strube who will represent the members of Section 10. Both men have a long-standing familiarity and fondness for our community. Randy, a retired naval architect and marine engineer, has been a summer resident for 63 years. He’s been involved in the sailing program since his youth, sailing Comets, Sunfish and Force Fives. A past Force Five fleet captain, Randy now serves as the sailing coordinator at Highland Lakes. Ed recalls summers at the lake as a child, “playing softball for the Crickets, being on the swim team and finally working for the Club during my teenage years.” He and his wife, Knox, purchased their current home here ten years ago and have made this their permanent residence.
Board meetings take place on the third Friday of every month at 8:00 pm. The treasurer’s report and committee reports are given at the start of each meeting, followed by a manager’s report, summation of legal matters and the prior month’s correspondence. New business is discussed and often voted upon as well. Members are encouraged to attend and have the opportunity to express their views at the portion of the meeting that is open to the public. Our next meeting will be held on October 19 in the Lake Room.
