Those Were the Days …
Which was the first lake in our community? What was Seckler and Shepperd’s original vision for Lake Vernon? How are summers today different from the summers spent by the first residents of our community? On February 17th, the Vernon Historical Society will present a panel discussion about the early years of Highland Lakes. The presentation, “Those Were the Days – Highland Lakes” will feature noted Highland Lakers including Ron Dupont Sr., Joan Ross, Irene Boeren, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Reeth, Mr. & Mrs. James Opfer, and Donald Crane. Guests can join in the discussion in the Vernon Senior Center at the rear of Vernon’s Municipal Center on Church Street on Sunday, February 17 from 2 to 4 pm.
