Swim Team Update

The first day of practice will be on Thursday, June 27. The practice schedule is as follows:

  • 9 – 10 am: (ages 13 and over)
  • 10 – 11 am: (ages 11-12)
  • 11 – 11:45 am: (ages 8-10)
  • 11:45 am – 12:15 pm: (ages 7 and under)

Practice times are flexible. For example, an accomplished 11 year old swimmer can swim with the 9 am practice. Also, children can swim with a later group (to be with friends, or other family members) as long as they’re within the same relative age and ability group. As many of you know, there are many other activities at the lake that coincide with swim team, so it is fine to come to an earlier or later practice to accommodate daily schedule changes. The ages listed above serve as a general guide.

Practices are held every weekday morning throughout the summer. In the case of bad weather, Coach Miller will notify everyone via email.  We also welcome back returning assistant coaches Matt Hall and Julia Loughren.

Children trying out for the swim team must be able to swim without assistance. The water depth at the swim lanes is 8 feet. Do not confuse swim team with swim lessons. Swim lessons are offered at the beaches. Registration forms will be handed out at the first day of practice.

Upcoming meets and important events include: The first swim meet is on Wednesday, July 3. For planning purposes, the last dual meet is on Wednesday, August 7, with championships to be held on Saturday, August 10, and the swim team awards night to be held on Monday, August 12.
