===============================================
Posted August 20 – 6 pm: On Tuesday afternoon, August 20 at approximately 3:35 pm, the Club received notice that the fecal coliform test result from sampling conducted at Beach 7 on Monday, August 20 by Garden State Laboratories, Inc. yielded a count of 600. The maximum permissible fecal coliform count at bathing beaches, pools, etc. is 200.

Bathing regulations permit beaches to continue in operation as long as a retest is immediately ordered, and that the results of the retest are satisfactory. However, Club policy recognizes that other beaches are available and, in the interest of swimming safety, beaches are closed until satisfactory test results are received. Therefore, Beach 7 was closed to swimming late Tuesday afternoon and will stay closed until further notice.

Retesting by Garden State Laboratories will take place on Wednesday, August 21 though test results will not be available until late Thursday evening, August 22 or Friday morning, August 23.

Members should call the Water Safety Hotline at 973-764-7797 after 10 am on Friday, August 23 for information regarding the reopening of Beach 7. Beaches 1, 2 and 3 remain open. Beaches 4, 5 and 6 have been closed for the season.

This beach closure has been reported to the Sussex County Department of Environmental and Public Health Services.
