Country Club and Community Association

Because We ALL Care About Our Children

Our community demonstrates throughout the year that the youth of Highland Lakes are among its highest priorities. The Clubhouse activities, athletic events, and small-town feel of the lake community put children and adolescents at the center of everything we do. A new workshop, scheduled for August 20th at 7:00 PM in the Clubhouse, will help us focus on Highland Lakes children and young adults even more.

Screen Shot 2013-08-15 at 3.57.56 PMResearch has proven that increasing the number of positive experiences and qualities (or assets) in a child’s life helps to reduce high risk behaviors. Assets promote academic success, civic engagement and other positive behaviors. Assets also divert youth from risky behaviors such as substance abuse, early sexual activity and violence. When faced with negative pressures or difficult circumstances, assets give young people the strength and resiliency they need to make good choices.

This workshop, run by the Center for Prevention and Counseling, will give Highland Lakes adults the opportunity to learn how to bring out the assets of children and youth whom they care for. It’s an interactive workshop – expect hands-on activities and a chance to learn actively. The only requirement for attendance is a whole-hearted desire to do what is best for all of our kids. See you there!
