Tricky Tray and Dinner Benefit Saturday April 12

On Saturday, April 12 many in our community will be enjoying an Italian buffet, a tricky tray and lots of camaraderie at the HL Clubhouse as they come together to support a family who has given so much to Highland Lakes. Tickets for the event are almost sold out but can still be purchased for $25. For more information, call Carol Hastie at 973-764-6521.

All proceeds from the event will go towards the cost of medical care needed for Massimo Joseph Cherichella, grandson of long-time club members Carol and Steve Hastie and son of Maureen Hastie Cherichella and her husband Frank. Massimo was born on May 5, 2012 weighing only 1 pound 6 ounces. His gestational age was 23 weeks, short of a full-term baby by 17 weeks. Since then this little fighter has required multiple surgeries and has spent weeks on a ventilator to help him breathe. Due to orthopedic complications Massimo will need many more surgeries, leg braces, and weekly physical and occupational therapy sessions. Speech therapy is also in his future. Despite this adversity, Massimo is a happy baby with a wonderful temperament and personality.

This fundraising event has been coordinated by “Team Massimo” including Carol Hastie, Dawn McLaughlin, Eileen Thompson, Jeanette Emmerich, JoAnne Poppe, Joyce and Jack Healy, Judy Norton, Kathy Strube, Maureen Sweeney, Sue Buruchian and Vera Filip. If you are unable to attend the event but would like to lend your support, please mail your donation to Cherichella c/o Poppe, 2037 Lakeside Drive West, Highland Lakes, NJ 07422. Any and all donations will be gratefully accepted.
