Involving children in the natural environment of Highland Lakes

The Ecology Committee is actively seeking involvement from community members interested in continuing and passing on to future generations the important work of being a resource for the care and keeping of our lakes and the general environment and wildlife in and around Highland Lakes.

To that end, as part of an ongoing effort to encourage the participation of our youngest members, the EC is putting out a call for suggestions of ways to get the community’s children involved in ecology-related activities, whether in the form of community service work, educational sessions, walks and hikes, and other fun, community-building events. How do you envision our community’s children, from toddlers to teens, enjoying and learning about the many offerings of the natural environment of Highland Lakes?

Please reply to this post with your ideas so they can be presented to the committee at the next meeting. Better yet, come to the next Ecology Committee meeting on Thursday, October 8 at 7 pm to discuss ideas in person!
