Child Safety Day: car seat and bike helmet inspections, tour an ambulance and fire truck, and more! – Saturday, June 18 – 10 am-1 pm

Child Safety Day Come down to the Highland Lakes Clubhouse parking lot on Saturday, June 18, from 10 am to 1 pm for this exciting rain or shine event for the kids and important information for parents. This event is open to the general public.

Thanks to the efforts of Highland Lakes Security and the Vernon Police Department, volunteers from various police and sheriff’s departments will be on hand to check for (and demonstrate if necessary) the proper installation of child safety seats in any car. With help from volunteers with the Vernon Township Ambulance Squad, children will be able to tour an ambulance. Highland Lakes Fire Department volunteers will let children get behind the wheel of a fire truck. Unfortunately, the department’s Smoke House is unavailable on this date. We also welcome volunteers from Trans-Options (http://www.transoptions.org/bike-right-kids)  who will be joining Child Safety Day for the first time, conducting checks for proper bike helmet fitting. Parents: please remember to bring the bike helmets your children use. Thanks to the Public Health Nursing folks at the Sussex County Department of Health for recruiting Trans-Options personnel.

We extend our deepest thanks to our staff and all of the volunteers for helping to organize this important event.
