Beach 3 (at Lookover Lane) Advisory – Friday, July 19, 2019 10:40 am

On Friday morning, July 19, 2019, the Club received notice that the test result at Beach 3 from sampling performed by Garden State Laboratories, Inc. on Wednesday, July 17 yielded an E. coli count of 325.5. The recreational bathing standard of the State of New Jersey is 320. Resampling will take place on Friday, July 19 and the results will be known Saturday morning. Beach 3 remains OPEN.

New Jersey’s bathing beach standards require the closure of a bathing beach when consecutive tests exceed the permissible level. The average of five previous tests was less than 20. Until a second consecutive failure occurs Beach 3 WILL REMAIN OPEN.

A sanitary survey has been conducted and NOTHING UNUSUAL has been observed.

The telephone number for the Sussex County Health Department which regulates all recreational bathing areas in Sussex County is 973-579-0370.

Required Language: “Bacteria levels change with the weather and current. They are usually highest near storm water pipes, especially during and after rainfall.”

Members should call the Water Safety Hotline at 973-764-7797 after 10 am Saturday morning. An announcement will be made whether Beach 3 remains open or is closed due to the failure of the second test taken on Friday, July 19. All other beaches are open.
