Fireworks: Revisions to New Jersey Law / Prohibited from Club Properties
The message was issued last year by the Vernon Township Police Department explaining changes in New Jersey law related to fireworks.
=======================================================
FIREWORKS:
We want everyone to have a safe and happy 4th of July but please remember that the only legal fireworks are those that do not shoot into the air and those that do not explode. The only fireworks that are currently legal in New Jersey are ground-based sparklers, handheld sparklers, and novelty items like party poppers, snappers and paper or plastic caps designed for toy guns.
Using illegal fireworks is not a victimless crime, these fireworks are stressful and annoying to many animals and people. Aerial fireworks often land on property belonging to others creating safety concerns and debris.
The decision to use illegal fireworks is selfish and illegal, the Vernon Police will respond to all calls of illegal fireworks and will file charges as necessary. Using illegal fireworks is a Disorderly Persons Offense and carries a fine of up to $500 for the first offense.
Please call 973-764-6155 to report the use of illegal fireworks within Vernon Township.
=======================================================
Highland Lakes Security will report all instances of the illegal use of fireworks to the Vernon Police. Fireworks on Club properties are not permitted at any time.
