While rain is in the forecast it is expected to break before 2 pm. As of 8:30 am the Annual Meeting is planned to take place. Polls will be open regardless of weather from 11 am to 2 pm – polling stations are located in the Lake Room.
The election of Trustees at the polls today will remain valid even if the Annual Meeting is canceled based on the Emergency By-Laws adopted by the Voting Board which read, in part, as follows:
Article XII-Elections, Section VII (new). Published August 13, 2020: Join us for our socially-distanced Annual Meeting on Sunday at 2 pm on the Clubhouse lawn.
In order to accomplish our socially-distanced meeting and hold elections, the Voting Board adopted emergency By-Laws that provide for a reduction of the quorum requirement from 5% (approximately 85 members) to 2.5% (approximately 43 members). In order to establish the quorum, another change provided for the inclusion of votes cast by absentee ballot and at the polls in the count towards the quorum.
To provide for the counting of ballots towards the quorum, another By-Law change authorized the opening of the polls before the meeting. Voting for Trustee positions for Sections 1, 3, 4, and 5 will take place between the hours of 11 am – 2 pm in the Lake Room. No entry to the Lake Room will be permitted without a mask, your membership card is required, and room capacity limits will be strictly enforced. Those who are in line to vote will be required to maintain a six foot minimum distance from all others. For those unable to locate their membership card, the Activity Center will issue a temporary card upon presentation of an owner’s badge and identification.
Social distancing among unrelated individuals on the lawn will be required at all times. For everyone’s protection you are requested to wear a mask or face covering, though if you maintain the minimum distance of six feet from all others that is in compliance with various orders issued by the Governor of New Jersey.
For those wishing to address the Voting Board, you will not be permitted to touch the microphone or microphone stand at any time. Microphone attendants will be on hand to make any necessary adjustments, and will be placing and removing disposable microphone covers to protect all speakers from potential virus transmission.
In the event of rain and/or thunderstorms the meeting will be cancelled and not rescheduled. To make sure the meeting is taking place as scheduled, please call the Water Safety Hotline – 973-764-7797 – before traveling to the Clubhouse.
