Workshop and Special Voting Board Meeting – Wednesday, September 9, 2020 – 7:30 pm
On Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at 7:30 pm meetings return to the Clubhouse with the Voting Board holding its Workshop in the Seckler and Craft rooms. Masks are required at all times, capacity is limited to not more than 25 persons in total (including Voting Board and staff members), the wall-mounted hand sanitizers should be used upon entering the room, and social distancing is required.
Workshop discussion items are:
1. opening the Clubhouse for young persons during the day as a “study hall” from 9 am to 3 pm to provide an alternative to the social isolation experienced by students enrolled in Vernon schools, the Sussex County Charter School, and other schools.
2. the results of the inventory of ash trees along the roadways and on Club properties by Bartlett Tree. The emerald ash borer has been discovered on Grandview Drive in Section 12.
3. a proposal to analyze options to address indoor air quality concerns in the Clubhouse, Lake Room, offices, and maintenance building from Strunk-Albert Engineering (the firm which designed the HVAC system in the Lake Room and the recent air conditioning project in the Clubhouse is also attached.
4. short-term rentals and the options available to the Club.
At the conclusion of the Workshop a Special Meeting will be convened. Items for consideration are:
1. authorization to conduct the Study Hall as a Club activity.
2. authorization to spend up to $25,000 in the Operating Fund for expenses related to retaining an executive search firm.
3. authorization to spend $30,000 in the Capital Fund for expenses related to the preservation of ash trees at Club parks, freeways, etc.
All Highland Lakes members in good standing are welcomed and encouraged to attend. It is at these meetings that you will learn the business of the Club and the matters that are currently under discussion. Opportunities for members to share their thoughts with the Voting Board are always available at the monthly Regular Meeting. The next Regular Meeting, usually scheduled for Fridays, due to the Rosh Hashanah holiday on Friday, September 18, will take place on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at 7:30 pm.
