IMPORTANT NOTICE: Be Alert for Phishing/Impersonation Emails
Dear Members,
We are reaching out to raise awareness about recent email phishing attempts targeting Club members and others. The emails may appear to be from a trusted individual such as the President or a Trustee of the Voting Board, or other well-known person, but they include urgent requests for money, or links or attachments designed to steal your personal information.
Do not click on links or open attachments from unknown senders, even if they seem legitimate.
Members of the Voting Board and management will never ask you for money or sensitive personal information via email. If in doubt, always call the sender directly or contact the Club office for verification.
Key signs of a phishing email:
- Urgent requests: Emails demanding immediate action, requesting money or personal info, or claiming your account is about to be suspended.
- Spelling errors and poor grammar: Unusual language or typos in the email body.
- Suspicious sender addresses: Check for slight variations in the domain name (hlcc.org) or email address.
- Unfamiliar greetings: Emails that address you generically without your full name.
What to do if you suspect a phishing email:
- Do not click on any links or open attachments .
- Forward the suspicious email to [email protected]
- Delete the email immediately.
More than 90% of all online threats originate through email. If you are unsure whether your personal email is adequately protected, consider contacting your email service provider to ask about advanced threat protection options. Stay vigilant and help protect yourself and others from cyber security threats.
Sincerely,
Chastity Cortijo
