WEED HARVESTER: Our New Machine Has Arrived

The weed harvester is part of HLCC’s long-term lake management plan. It cuts and removes submerged and surface vegetation in high-use areas like Club beaches, swim lanes, boat docks, and bridge approaches, keeping recreation areas safer and more enjoyable. Just as important, harvesting removes excess plant material from the lakes, helping reduce phosphorus levels and improve overall water quality. The harvester can also collect floating algae, weeds, and manage lily pads and cattails.

Our custom-built weed harvester has officially arrived! Unlike last season’s loaner machine used for training and testing, this is HLCC’s own equipment, built to our specifications. With the new harvester on-site, staff can operate on our schedule and continue refining routes, timing, and collection methods.

Harvesting will rotate across all lakes as conditions require. Lakes 2, 3, and 4 typically need the most attention, while Lakes 1 and 5 experience fewer weed issues. Harvesting will continue throughout the season, with schedules adjusted based on weather, growth rates, and lake conditions. Priority areas include Club beaches, swim lanes, boat docks, and other Club-owned waterfront spaces.
