Management Company Transition Update

Management Company Transition Update

The Board has officially completed the contract signing for First Service Residential [FSR], a nationally recognized community management company with experience supporting complex, amenity-rich associations like ours. This transition is designed to strengthen operations, improve systems, and provide long-term support for both staff and members.

After careful evaluation and extensive discussion of the options, the Board determined that engaging a professional management firm was the best step to protect the long-term stability and future of Highland Lakes. As the community continues to grow more complex, operationally, financially, and regulatory-wise, the Board weighed the pros and cons and decided that a firm would provide added structure, continuity, and support for both staff and members.

To guide this process, the Board formed a management transition committee, which led the evaluation of management options and will remain actively involved in the transition moving forward.

With the management company now selected, the next step is choosing the General Manager who will serve on site. The Board will work closely with FSR throughout this process to identify the right candidate, someone who understands Highland Lakes, supports our staff, and aligns with the community’s needs and values. The management transition committee will oversee this phase.

The transition will occur in phases:

  • Operational functions are targeted to begin around March 1
  • Financial systems will transition by April 1
  • Full turnover is planned for May 1

Members can expect some changes over the coming months, including updates to processes and a new member-facing online portal. We are committed to updating the community throughout the transition and will host a membership information session to meet the FSR team supporting our community, review upcoming changes, answer questions, and outline what to expect. While adjustments are inevitable, the goal is a smoother, more efficient operation that better supports the community now and well into the future.
